Play Expert (Part-Time)
As a vital part of the Guest Services Department and Port Discovery team, Play Experts are responsible for providing guests with an excellent, memorable experience, stellar customer service, and supporting the Museum’s mission and educational philosophy. As a member of our team, you’ll support playful learning and discovery through meaningful interaction with children and adults, ignite imaginations, and promote the power of play in children through hands-on experiences. Play experts work directly with guests in one-on-one or group scenarios to lead, educate and facilitate programming and demonstrate the workings of the museum and exhibits.
The museum is open to the public 5 days a week (Wednesdays to Sundays), plus some holidays. We will be open all 7 days a week (Mondays to Sundays) starting in mid-June. We offer visiting families and groups two play sessions per day. Play Expert work shifts are 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.
This is a part-time position, and we are looking for Experts that can commit to work at a minimum of three days a week. Once the schedule is determined, it is the same weekly. We can offer up to 29 hours per week.

Box Office Associate (Part-Time)
Port Discovery Children’s Museum provides experiences that ignite imagination, inspire learning, and nurture growth through play. We are currently looking for talented, friendly and outgoing Box Office Associates. Box Office Associate will serve as the first point of contact for all guests who visit the museum and is responsible for upholding the highest degree of customer service. Responsibilities include greeting and directing guests, selling museum admissions, as well as maintaining and updating the ticketing software database.
Currently, the museum is open to the public every day of the week. Work schedules are 9:30 am to 5:00 pm on scheduled work-days.
We are looking for Associates that can commit to working at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday), plus two additional days (minimum 3 days total). Please be prepared to respond with your desired work schedule preference when applying.
This is an entry-level position, with a starting rate of $15.00 per hour. The position offers up to 29 hours per week.

Housekeeping Associate (Temporary & Part-Time)
Port Discovery is looking for some reliable individuals to join our team for the next 2 – 4 months to be our part-time Housekeeping Associates. The Associate is responsible for the cleanliness, upkeep, and thorough deep cleaning of all areas within the museum facility. The objective is to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable museum environment for guests and employees. The successful candidate will have good communication skills, can follow instructions, and takes pride in being part of our team!
This is a temporary and part-time position!! The position can start immediately and will run through mid to late fall 2022.
The position consists of up to 29 weekly hours, with Saturday AND Sunday shifts required. Schedule may also include weekdays, evenings, and requires flexibility for some events.

Facilities Technician (Part Time)
Port Discovery Children’s Museum is seeking a skilled and motivated individual be our part-time Facilities Technician. The Technician assists with construction and routine maintenance of all building systems, general repair of exhibit activities, components and areas and cosmetic repairs, control systems, plumbing and light electrical work of the facility and grounds. The Technician also keeps inventory and actively replaces lighting as needed. Must know and adhere to safety protocol in handling machinery, electrical equipment and power tools. Occasionally, the Facility Technician will need to drive the company van for repair or other related events and must be able to operate a man-lift to 35 feet. This position is categorized as “Essential Services” and must be available for on-site work in inclement weather.
This is a part-time position requiring flexibility in scheduling, consisting of 29 weekly hours. The museum building is open 7-days a week, so there will be weekend, evening, and holiday work necessary.

Education Associate (Part-Time)
We are currently seeking a talented and creative individual be our part-time Education Associate. The Education Associate contributes to the School and Group Programs Team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the museum’s innovative educational programming for schools and other groups such as summer camps and childcare centers. This position applies their expertise directly to aid in the design process of educational programming for schools and groups and serves as a lead facilitator in the delivery of these programs.
This position includes direct service hours per week by delivering school or group programs, and or facilitating Port to Ports. If there are no opportunities to provide direct service via these activities, this position would apply those hours to Public Programming activities, e.g. staffing an exhibit, roaming, or facilitating a Discovery Cart activity.
This is a part-time position providing approximately 18 weekly hours. Typical schedule will be Tuesday to Friday 9:00 am to 1:30 pm (though occasional shifting and weekend work will be necessary). Team members will coordinate a staffing model of rotating coverage for school and group programs during the week, as well as afternoon or weekend Port to Ports (if necessary). Participation in certain special events, weekends, evenings, and holidays will also be necessary.

Internships
Port Discovery is a great place to intern for college students of many disciplines. Whether you are majoring in museum studies, marketing, business, art/design, or education, Port Discovery provides a professional environment where your creative thoughts are encouraged.
Internships are often available throughout the school year with the Exhibits, Development, Marketing, Programs, and Education departments. Opportunities are limited and are based on departmental needs.
